The RHRC is seeking a motivated individual to help strengthen its internal accounting,
budgeting, and grant oversight. The Senior Accountant will work closely with our Director
of Finance and Staff Accountant.
NECESSITIES:
- Predominately virtual, with estimated travel 20% of the time
- Must be willing to attend quarterly in-person team meetings.
- Must be willing to travel to client locations as needed.
- Must be willing to attend RHRC hosted events.
- Must be willing to attend industry-relevant events.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- B. S.- Accounting and at least five (5) years’ experience accounting or finance administration
with a good understanding of GAAP. - Demonstrated proficiency with Sage Intacct Accounting Software
- Highly proficient with Excel; demonstrated proficiency with PowerPoint, and Word.
- Experience in a rural hospital or not-for-profit organization highly preferred.
- General ledger accounting experience required.
- Experience with grant or fund accounting highly preferred.
- Experience working with external auditors, supporting annual audits and tax filings.
- Experience preparing financial statements such as Income Statements, Balance Sheets and
Statement of Cashflow. - Experience with internal auditing and control processes highly preferred.
- Demonstrated financial management skills and financial analysis and reports.
- Experience working on cross-functional teams.
- Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details
and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates. - Be self-directed, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

EDUCATION:
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting or higher, five years of related experience in accounting or finance administration, and a good understanding of GAAP.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the day-to-day transaction processing activities and accounting processes across a portfolio of grants/projects to ensure accurate and timely dissemination of financial information and reports.
- Oversee the processing, funding, and reporting of regularly scheduled payrolls.
- Review and prepare transaction data consistent with RHRCO’s accounting policies and procedures.
- Ensures all transactions are appropriately authorized for payment.
- Oversee and support the accounting team to drive monthly financial close, account reconciliations, treasury management, G/L maintenance, and statement preparation needed for RHRC leadership and the board of directors.
- Coordinates the annual audit process and works with auditors to ensure the successful completion of the audits.
- Supports the annual tax filing processes.
- In partnership with internal compliance, ensures proper internal controls are functioning within the RHRCO
- Supports board meeting content and participate in a wide variety of special projects specific to financial matters upon request.
- Supports the annual budget development process.
- Identify and support the implementation of various technologies and system enhancements to improve operating effectiveness.
- Assists with the aggregation of financial data / budgeting processes needed for development of funding components of grant and contractual proposals.
- Works with staff to ensure that proper fund accounting is occurring for awarded grants.
- Develops necessary financial reports required for grant reporting.
- Assists with the production of other, non-financial grant reports as needed to ensure compliance with reporting standards.
- Assists with procurement processes as requested.
- Provide mentorship to accounting team members.
- Attends in-person RHRCO meetings and summits as scheduled.
