Rural Health Redesign Center and Bucktail Medical Center Join Forces for Community Improvement Work

Renovo, PA — The nonprofit Rural Health Redesign Center (RHRC) has teamed with Bucktail Medical Center in a collaborative three-day volunteer event that enhanced the hospital’s facilities and reinforced their shared mission to provide high-quality healthcare to the community. RHRC staff from Pennsylvania worked alongside Bucktail Medical Center staff, Township volunteers, and a Lancaster-based handyman company, JT Works LLC, to perform a variety of maintenance tasks and improvements from July 9–12, 2024.

The event marked a milestone for RHRC as its staff moved beyond their traditional consulting role to provide hands-on practical assistance, demonstrating the organization’s deep commitment to the communities it serves.

“The folks from RHRC and other volunteers graciously donated their time to help us spruce up the hospital campus,” said Laura Murnyack, CEO of Bucktail Medical Center. “They agreed that our community deserves to have a well-tended medical facility that looks inviting and welcoming, and our volunteers worked together toward achieving this goal.”

The various activities performed by volunteers included landscaping, pressure-washing, outdoor repairs, interior painting, and more.

“We are a committed partner in helping Bucktail Medical Center achieve its mission. We wanted to demonstrate our support through physical service, in addition to continuing to offer ongoing technical assistance and expertise,” said Janice Walters, Executive Director of RHRC. “Our goal is to instill hope in the community for the future of their hospital.”

The success of this effort highlights the essential role of community hospitals like Bucktail Medical Center in providing accessible healthcare. By improving the hospital’s facilities, RHRC, Bucktail Medical Center, and their partners have ensured that residents of Renovo and western Clinton County, PA, continue to receive the care they deserve in a facility they can be proud of.
